Danielle Howle
Thank You, Mark
(Valley ENT)
South Carolina girl Danielle Howle returns with one of her best records ever, full of personality and intelligent lyrics. The album is enhanced by an impressive list of musicians, including Sam Bush, Byron House, Tim Vaill and a soulful duet with fellow Carolinian Darius Rucker, (Hootie & The Blowfish). Speaking of ... the record is produced by Mark Bryan, also of Hootie.
But it’s not the caliber of guests on hand that makes Thank you, Mark Howle’s best work yet - it’s the caliber of her songwriting, which has hit a new all time high.
Vacillating between fresh Americana and jazz, rhythm and blues and country-esque, this is a fine, varied collection, with outstanding tracks including “Jesus Won’t Wait,” “Roses From Leroys,” “Fields of Cotton” and “I’ll Be Blue.”
After years as a member of bands like Lay Quiet Awhile and The Tantrums, Danielle Howle has settled comfortably into her niche as a solo artist, and the music just gets better and better.
