Robert Plant recorded Townes Van Zandt’s “Harm Swift Way” on his new Band of Joy disc. I heard the song today, and I became interested in the rest of the cover tunes. It caught my ear…
Since I met Van Zandt twice, and listened to Led Zeppelin songs many times through the years, this version of “Harm’s Swift Way” impressed me. Patti Griffin’s vocal grace accompanies Plant on this Van Zandt song. It’s a loose, rock-folk-sounding collection of songs. It’s good to see the spirit & music of Townes Van Zandt lives on.
Robert Plant and the Band of Joy will perform at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, North Carolina, on January 18, and Raleigh on Feb 2. Other southern dates include North Charleston (Feb 4), Atlanta (Feb 5), Charlotte (Feb 7) and Nashville (Feb 8 & 9).
