The Marshall Tucker Band was at their peak in the summer of 1977, and now you can relive the magic of the original lineup of Toy and Tommy Caldwell, George McCorkle, Paul Riddle, Doug Gray and Jerry Eubanks on a fabulous live DVD that comes complete with a 2-CD set of the same concert.

Carolina Dreams Tour ’77 captures MTB onstage performing their biggest hits: “Heard It In A Love Song,” “Fire On The Mountain,” “Can’t You See” and many more.

hi, buffalo. i,m big in southern rock and love marshall tucker band. saw them 1 time on the long hard ride tour and have seen them a few more times since then. in fact just saw them 3weeks ago in ladson.dougs voice still sounds great it was a great show. i hope i win this cd/dvd set ,but will buy it if i don,t and i think gritz and swampland are great for all info on southern rock. on a very sad note we have lost another southern brother with the passing of hughie thomason. saw him in myrtle beach on the outlaws reunion tour and met the band afterwards. also buffalo iwould also like to say you are a hellofagood southern rocker your self. have some of your music. keep up the good work. your southern brother . curtis lowe

Friday, March 16, 1979. I was 14 and visiting my sister who lived next door. I was in the right place at the right time, because a friend of hers came over with extra tickets to The Marshall Tucker Band concert that night. So off I went to my very first concert ever. I remember my sister taking me up to the front, by the stage, and the giant stagecoach backdrop. Thanks to PoBoy's comment above, I now know it was the Long Hard Ride tour. That sounds vaguely familiar. That had to have been the start to my now "age old" appreciation of southern rock. I would just love to have the DVD and relive a concert from that time, since now I'm 42 and suffer from C.R.S!

I grew up in Inman and consider MTB the finest example of true Southern Rock. If I don't win then I'll buy it, hopefully it will have an easter egg of LONG HARD RIDE. I am still hoping to get a copy of that on DVD, and maybe we will see some remastered film from Volunteer Jam for HDDVD soon too! crosses fingers

Hi, Buffalo...and all at Swampland. Thanks a WHOLE BUNCH for helping to keep Southern Rock alive! I'm a 47 yr. old gigging Guitarist, cut my teeth on the chops of Dickey Betts, Hughie Thomasson, Grinderswitch, Elvin Bishop and first and foremost, Toy Caldwell (the most dangerous thumb on the planet!!!). A friend surprised me by taking me to see MTB on my 16th birthday....the "Long Hard Ride" tour. Elvin opened the show, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better...it did! The lights came up and revealed the huge stagecoach painting from the album (which I already owned), and next thing I know I'm fifty feet from my hero, basking in the wonderful sound of that Les Paul flowing out of those powerful Twin Reverbs. It sounds pretty corny, but that was a life-changing moment for me. Up until then, I'd thought that music was just something to do for fun - but at that moment I realized that music, especially this "heart-and-soul" kind of music that we love, was life itself - it documents all our feelings, hopes, worries - and lays it out in a way that anyone can relate to - so we don't have to carry our burdens alone. God Bless Toy Caldwell and the MTB for carrying so many of my burdens! A couple of weeks after that show, I was still basking in the memory of it. Sitting in the High School parking lot, talking with another guitar player friend, discussing favorite players, naturally the top of my list came out first - Toy Caldwell. "Toy Caldwell?" says he..."He can't play for S**t....". Before he knew what happened, I had him pinned on the ground, sitting on his chest, with my fist cocked back ready to introduce his nose to his ear, and he's screaming "No! No! I was just kidding - he's a great player!" He knew how much I loved Toy and was just "yanking my chain". Well, he found out that was one chain he should have left alone. So...I'm sure alot of people here love the MTB as much as I do...but how many of y'all have fought for them? Thanks for "Keepin' it Southern" Po Boy

Marshall Tucker was the greatest band ever. The ORIGINAL BAND that is. I would dearly love to have this and re live the glory days. Keep up the good work.

I have seen so many concerts at the Capitol Theater The Allmans, Henry Paul Band, Charlie Daniels, Betts, Levell,Hall,Trucks (remember that line up?)The list goes on. However I didn't see the Tucker Boy's at that venue. (I was at the show where "Live In The Garden State" was shot). I don't know if any of this makes me qualified for the freebie, but the Capitol Theater was probably the best place for a show bar- none at that time. (Hey check out the live performance of Molly Hatchet on the EPA special box set,yes the Capitol.) I'm sure this show will take me back in time where life was a little more laid back, at least for a kid who just got out of high school. I'll be first in line for this release. It'll bring back great memories of one of the greatest concert halls that there ever was.

I can't compete with the guys above, but since my youth I've been a huge MTB fan. The earliest gig of theirs I ever saw was at the old Charlotte Park Center in 1973. After finishing medical school in 82, my two main choices for residency training were Spartanburg and Greenville because of the romance for that region created by the MTB. Their music is timeless and will live on forever, and was a truly unique blend of rock, country, blues and jazz that will never be duplicated.

I grew up in Spartanburg and was childhood friends with many of the MTB members . I'm still very close to PAul and Jerry . I remember every time they played in SPartanburg . Saw them several times in other cities . My son has listened to them for almost all of his 27 years and has often lamented that he wishes he could have seen the original band ( Tommy dies before he was born ) . I'd love to revisit some of those old concerts and let my son experience them . He has played with both Jerry and Paul , so seeing this would be wonderful . Peace - JB

Well where do I start? I have been a Southern Rock Fan all my life. I used to buy EVERYTHING I could find in Camelot Music pertaining to Southern Rock. LP, cassette and 8-Track. Be it Blackfoot, Skynyrd, Tucker or whoever. Last July Ms Rebyll and myself had business in Spartanburg on the weekend of the 7th. (Just after George was buried). We left Goldsboro N.C. for the 5 hour drive. Since we were there we wanted to go and pay our respects to George, and also Tommy, Toy and the rest of the families laid there. It had rained that evening and my 5 year old daughter wanted to go search with me. Not knowing where to look, and the caretaker not available, I told her "no". I searched but to no avail. We went back to the motel and after our business on Sunday went back to try again. Arriving there and stopping to have a look, my daughter, (who is named "Jessica" after Dickey's song by the way), again wanted to go with me. I said "Okay" and we started down this walkway. We had walked about 30 feet or so down a concrete walkway and I saw her out of the corner of my eye and she was fixing some flowers on a gravesite. I turned to tell her to stop and lo and behold, it was Toy Caldwell!!!! From there we found the rest of the Caldwell family, but we had to get some help finding Tommy's site. Plus a nice lady on an exercise walk directed us to Georges site. On November 3rd of this year we went back to Spartanburg to attend the Jam For George Concert. We met Justin, Bebee, Justin's Mama, and so many of the McCorkle family. They are the nicest people!!! It was an AWESOME day. The bands were remarkable, and the day was perfect. We also had the opportunity to meet others like Buffalo, Artimus Pyle, JoJo Billingsley, Bruce Hall, Wolfgang Huenberger, Larry Greenhouse, Mark, from 43 the Hawk and many, many more!!!! It is a day that I (having never met George McCorkle) knew he was there!! We made a lot of good and hopefully lifelong friends there and it is a day that I will remember for the rest of my life! rebyll
