Upcoming Shows, Vintage Interviews Posted

Posted: Jul 20, 2007

It's been a busy few weeks around here for the ol' Gritzman, and things are just getting busier. I like it that way.

Next week I will be returning to Macon, Georgia to report on The Tommy Talton Band bash at Bragg Jam. That one promises to be a good time. The night before, my band and I will be performing with The Paul Thorn Band at The Handlebar here in Greenville, SC. Then the following weekend, we return to Macon to take part in the rescheduled benefit for Sid Yokim with Bonnie Bramlett, Tommy Crain and The Crosstown Allstars, The Winters Brothers Band, Eddie Stone and many others. As always, you can catch a full report and photos from each of these events right here in the Gritz section of SWAMPLAND.COM.

Well, we have located even more archived interviews and features from the first 9 years of GRITZ, and will be updating and posting them a few at a time. This week, you can revisit classic interviews with: Charlie Hargett and Greg T. Walker of Blackfoot; Eddie Stone of Doc Holiday; Johnny Neel; Toy Caldwell Band/Marshall Tucker Band bassist Tony Heatherly; a 2006 David Allan Coe update; and an interview Derek Halsey conducted with the recently deseased piano man, Big Joe Duskin. Check 'em out.

Also in the works are two additions to our Legends of Southern Rock series, The Allman Brothers Band and Blackfoot. Coming soon.

Speaking of Allmans, I have been listening to the double disc package of The Brothers performing at The Atlanta International Pop Festival back in 1970. It really doesn't get any better. I highly recommend this one to any lover of real, honest to God Southern boogie.

There's a whole lot of good news coming down the pike for Southern Rock fans. Be sure to check in with us every day. And as always, we appreciate your support.

Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.
