2011 AthFest This Weekend
This weekend Athens, Georgia's, annual AthFest Music Festival will take place. AthFest is a non-profit organization dedicated to music and arts education headquartered in Athens. The goal of AthFest is to educate people about the local arts community.
This is the 15th year of AthFest Music Festival. Around 200 bands will perform on the 2011 schedule. A few of the performers include: Lera Lynn, Centro-matic, Futurebirds, Dodd Ferrelle, Don Chambers, Chickasaw Mud Puppies, Bloodkin, Guadalcanal Diary, Col. Bruce Hampton, Dr. Alvin Scott, Kevn Kinney Band and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit.
In other Athens news, Bloodkin and The Drive By Truckers will perform a show together on Friday in Asheville, North Carolina. Also, Widespread Panic will play three nights at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado this weekend. More Athens news next week...
