ACC Daily Fever: Gator Bowl To Host Bowden Finale

We wrote last week that the Gator Bowl wanted to match up Florida State (in Bobby Bowden's last game) and West Virginia (his former school), and the folks in Jacksonville got their game. It seems like a very fitting final game as Bobby Bowden rides off into the sunset after a legendary career in Tallahassee.

Some in the league may not like the bowl selection order of the ACC teams, but this is a unique situation, as described by those involved:

"This is going to be a great event," said Dan Murphy, Chairman of the Gator Bowl Committee. "And really a celebration of a great coach, but really a great icon and a great ambassador for college football."

Said Florida State athletic director Randy Spetman: "It gives us a chance to go there and honor Coach Bowden in the state of Florida, and allows our fans to get there and support Coach Bowden in what will be a historic day for Florida State."

Some in the Seminoles fan base are still divided over Bowden’s departure, but the Gator Bowl provides an opportunity to celebrate his career and legacy at FSU.
