SEC Daily Fever: All-League Squad Looks Like NFL Draft Primer

Posted: Dec 08, 2009

The SEC is considered the big dog conference in college football right now, especially with Alabama aiming to win the league’s fourth straight National Title. With the All-Conference team announced yesterday, it’s very easy to understand why.

Looking at a recent NFL Mock Draft, ten SEC players are projected to go in the first round. When a player like Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes is predicted to be a first round selection but makes 2nd-team All-SEC, the strength of the league’s talent base is very clear.

Some media and fans in other parts of the country tried to criticize the rest of the conference because both Florida and Alabama went through the league unscathed. Their undefeated records actually prove the level of quality of their players and coaches, something both squads will have a chance to show in the Bowl season.

Top SEC programs tend to finish at the top of the yearly recruiting rankings, and that- along with great coaching staffs- translates into the deepest conference in college football.
