A Glance Back on Widespread Panic (with Musical Guest Marc Ford)

Posted: Dec 01, 2009

Widespread Panic & Marc Ford at The Orpheum in L.A. Last Month

With several Widespread Panic and Panic-related stories on the horizon, I've been listening to some recent shows. One that caught my ear was last month at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles where Marc Ford sat in with Panic. Ford jammed with Panic in June of 08 at Red Rocks in Colorado, which I enjoyed their rendition of Neil Young's "Vampire Blues".

Last month Marc played The Meters' "It Ain't No Use", The Band's "The Shape I'm In" and Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home" with Panic. Marc Ford and Jimmy Herring played together over the years when Ford was in The Black Crowes. The Crowes often invited Herring to sit in with them. The L.A. show sounded great, and it proves Panic continues as a real touring force as they have for the last 20 years. They've had a great year with the Archives Series, and the historic tour with The Allman Brothers Band. Panic plays two shows in Atlanta on Dec. 30 and 31 to close out the year. Stay tuned,

James Calemine

Love some Marc Ford with my boys...then how 'bout that Jesus Just Left Chicago a few shows later with a touch of Little Feat to top it off with a CHERRY! " The same ones you use on the way up, you're gonna pass 'em on your way back down."
