SEC Daily Fever: Thrilling Weekend Shows League's Strength

Posted: Nov 30, 2009

The SEC saved its best for the last week of regular season play.

There were a number of exciting games where the conference showed its power and depth. Auburn had a valiant effort in the Iron Bowl, but Alabama's late victory locked in college football's Game of the Year with the Tide headed to Atlanta to meet #1 Florida. Hopefully, the rematch will be the quality of season's SEC Title tilt.

There were other classic finishes in league play with both the LSU-Arkansas and Tennessee-Kentucky games going to overtime. Les Miles' bunch showed they could run the two-minute drill this week as they beat the Hogs, and Lane Kiffin's crew defeated the Wildcats for the 25th straight time. We also saw an upset in the Egg Bowl as Mississippi State ended their season on a positive by taking out rival Ole Miss.

The depth of the SEC was on display in the fact that the league went 3-0 against the ACC over the weekend. Georgia showed that they have a running game as well in getting revenge against Georgia Tech, while the South Carolina defense dominated Clemson on their way to a Palmetto State victory.
