ACC Daily Fever: Big Weekend for the League- In and Out of Conference Play

Posted: Nov 27, 2009

It's going to be a heated-rivalry Saturday for the ACC- with big games in conference and some in-state clashes out of league. We wrote earlier in the week about how the ACC should go at least 2-1 against the SEC (Georgia Tech-Georgia, Clemson-South Carolina, FSU-Florida) this weekend. The best situation for the league's perception would be to have its two Title Game teams- Georgia Tech and Clemson- enter the contest coming off a win and not an upset loss to an SEC squad.

Within the league, there are several key in-state games with intriguing storylines. North Carolina will look to avoid a repeat of last year’s 41-10 beatdown at the hands of NC State. These two programs both have third-year coaches, with Butch Davis taking the Tar Heels to a second straight bowl while Tom O'Brien could not pull off the postseason repeat in Raleigh.

Another North Carolina battle will take place in Durham when Wake Forest travels to Duke. The Demon Deacons have shown programs like Duke that they can be competitive in a top league. One of the main leaders for Wake's resurgence over the last few years has been quarterback Riley Skinner, who will play his last game Saturday.

Elsewhere, Virginia Tech will take on Virginia for supremacy in the Commonwealth, and Miami will battle South Florida in a game that could have huge recruiting ramifications in the Sunshine State.

Honorable Mention ACC Headlines:

Miami veteran left tackle expected to miss USF game

Bowden never recruited Tebow
