ACC Daily Fever: Clemson's Offense Sparks Winning Streak

Posted: Nov 20, 2009

Clemson is on the verge of their first Atlantic Division crown as they prepare to host Virginia on Saturday.

After starting 2-3, Dabo Swinney’s bunch has won five in a row with the offense leading the way. The Tigers have averaged 42 points a game in the last five contests, and star C.J. Spiller has made a late Heisman run in the process.

Swinney was able to lead his team through adversity after the Maryland loss, and now they look ready for a huge postseason. At 7-3 the Tigers could end up with ten wins if they can beat UVA and rival South Carolina to close the regulasr season, and then win in the ACC Title Game or their Bowl game. That's a pretty lofty total for a team that seemed to have more questions than answers in early October.

In retrospect, the two close losses to Georgia Tech and TCU don't look bad at all with both of those teams in the Top 10. Clemson's only bad week with the Maryland defeat, something Swinney must make sure does not happen this week against Virginia.
