ACC Daily Fever: Clemson's Spiller Making Late Heisman Push

As Clemson pushes towards their first Atlantic Division crown, star playmaker C.J. Spiller is making a strong case for Heisman consideration. In a season where there appears to be no clear cut favorite for the always-controversial award, Spiller has a a decent shot as long as he can get some more national TV time.

Others top players in our Footprint like Alabama ’s Mark Ingram, Florida ’s Tim Tebow, and Colt McCoy of Texas will all have huge profile games coming up in the next few weeks. Spiller will need to lead his Clemson squad to ACC Championship Game to garner some extra exposure for voters around the country who may not realize what he's done lately.

The senior tailback set a school record of 310 total yards in the Miami victory, and then surpassed that with a 312 total-yard effort against Florida State two weeks ago. Last Saturday against NC State, Spiller became the only Clemson player to ever have a touchdown pass, catch and run all in the same game.

He may not get the same consideration as some of the SEC and Big 12 guys, but Spiller has earned it this season. He had two games-Middle Tennessee and Coastal Carolina- where he barely played and could have put up big stats in those blowouts.

Hopefully for Clemson fans, the Tigers will close strongly against Virginia and South Carolina, and their do-everything weapon will get his national TV audience.
