SEC Daily Fever: Ole Miss' McCluster Has Record Day Against Distracted Vols

Posted: Nov 16, 2009

Wonder if Ole Miss would increase the speed limit on campus from 18 (Archie Manning's retired number) to 22 after Saturday?

#22 Dexter McCluster had a monster performance against a Tennessee squad that left their game in Knoxville. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound senior ran for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns as he carried the Rebels to a 42-17 demolishing of the Vols.

It had been a disappointing season for Houston Nutt's bunch, who were ranked as high as #4 in the nation before their South Carolina loss. But with home wins over Arkansas and Tennessee over the last month, the Rebels are now in a position for a much better bowl game as they prepare for LSU this week.

Lane Kiffin said that his team was not distracted by the arrests of three Vols, but his team was flat in all areas of the game in Oxford.. The usually-solid defense set a school-record for the most rushing yards given up to one player and probably set a record for missed tackles according to their first-year coach. Kiffin dismissed two of the arrested players on Monday, and now his team will try and rebound against Vanderbilt to get bowl eligible.
