SEC Daily Fever: LSU-Alabama Is The National Game Of The Week

Posted: Nov 06, 2009

The eyes of the college football world will be on Tuscaloosa Saturday afternoon when #9 LSU meets #3 Alabama.

This game has conference and national implications as the Tigers try to beat their school's former coach, Nick Saban. Most importantly, this game is a chance for Les Miles to show that his program belongs in the same conversation with Alabama and Florida.

The national and regional media have seemingly had a Tide-Gators clash reserved for the Georgia Dome for months now. LSU can change that with a win at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Tigers struggled to score against the Florida defense and consequent lost 13-3. Bama's defense is just as strong, and the play of LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson may be the difference in the game. He has looked good since that Florida loss, throwing for over 400 yards and 4 TDs in two games. If he can be moderately productive, the Tigers can win the expected low-scoring game and put themselves in the national spotlight.
