ACC Daily Fever: Clemson Will Control ACC Atlantic With A Win Against FSU

Posted: Nov 06, 2009

Clemson could virtually wrap up the ACC's Atlantic Divsion with a home win against Florida State on Saturday night.

That seemed improbable when the Tigers dropped to 2-3 on the season after their crushing defeat at Maryland. Dabo Swinney's bunch was 1-2 in league play at that point, and the fan base was wondering if their new coach was the man for the job. After three straight wins that included the overtime thriller at Miami, Clemson is in a position to almost lock up their first ever ACC Championship Game berth if they can defeat the struggling 'Noles.

As far as FSU and their porous defense, Swinney is not hearing any of it. He only wants to talk about the great athletes that Florida State has on that side of the ball, but it sounds like the same ole 'coach speak' with Mickey Andrews' unit being ranked 109th in the country.  The Clemson coach knows his team must light up the Memorial Stadium scoreboard and take out Bobby Bowden's bunch while they are down.

Swinney has a chance to win over the Tigers fan base in this game; one that should a high-scoring, fun to watch affair.
