ACC Daily Fever: FSU and UNC Are Both Desperate For A Win Tonight

Posted: Oct 22, 2009

It's pretty amazing that here in late October, the North Carolina-Florida State clash will feature two teams searching for their first league win. But that is exactly the case Thursday night when the slumping Seminoles travel to Chapel Hill to meet the Tar Heels on national television.

Butch Davis' team has struggled on offense this year, but the UNC fan base should be fairly patient as the third-year head coach works through their issues. As for the 'Noles, they seem to be a ship without a captain as criticism of Bobby Bowden continues to mount. Even for those who want to go ahead with the succession plan of seeing Jimbo Fisher take over, they have to wonder what this losing season says for his ability to right that ship.

If Florida State were to lose tonight, that would mean a fifth defeat on the season with Florida still on the schedule. Any other slip-ups for Bowden's crew would equal the reality of not making a Bowl game, something that seemed unfathomable in September.
