SEC Daily Fever: Nutt Back In Spotlight As Ole Miss Prepares For Arkansas

Posted: Oct 22, 2009

When the 2009 season kicked off, Ole Miss looked to be a contender in the West while the Arkansas was supposed to play the role of spoiler - but roles could be reveresed after this Saturday's game.

The Rebels have struggled out of the gate and have almost crumbled under the weight of lofty expectations. As they prepare to host the Razorbacks, the feel of this game is that Houston Nutt's bunch is fighting more to just stay in the upper half of the West than to compete for any Title.

In the former coach's return to Arkansas a year ago, Nutt’s Rebels won a close one 23-21. However, an Arkansas victory this year would have Hog fans feeling pretty good about the future.

It would make a statement that the Arkansas program under Bobby Petrino might have already passed Ole Miss in the SEC pecking order.

Meanwhile, the Arkansas game means more to Nutt than just beating his former school. This win could serve as a catalyst to salvage a season that had a very rough beginning.
