ACC Daily Fever: Georgia Tech Enters National Picture With Win Over Virginia Tech

Posted: Oct 19, 2009

The Coastal Division just got very interesting after Georgia Tech’s 28-23 win over #4 Virginia Tech on Saturday. Virginia (that’s right, Al Groh’s team is 2-0 in league play) actually leads the Division right now, but you have to expect the race will come down to both Techs and Miami, all who have one loss.

The Hokies loss probably means the league has no shot at a National Title, although it’s still technically possible if Miami or Georgia Tech runs the table.

Maybe the most important factor of the Yellow Jackets’ win is that they are looking more and more like a program that is going to compete on a National level. Paul Johnson’s running attack has created a headache for opposing coaches, much like Nebraska did in the 90’s.

When/if Florida State and Clemson can get turned around and join with the resurgence of Georgia Tech and Miami, the league’s long term forecast will be much brighter.
