SEC Daily Fever: Should Florida be on Upset Alert?

Posted: Oct 16, 2009

Is this the one? Even though the Florida Gators have won two of the last three National Titles, they lost a surprising game in the middle of both of those seasons. Urban Meyer’s bunch took care of business at LSU last week, but now they return home to meet a hot Arkansas club in what looks to be a classic trap game.

Bobby Petrino’s team has played much better defense the last two weeks in giving Texas A&M and Auburn their first losses of the season. We know Ryan Mallett and the Hogs offense can move the ball, although they were shut down by the swarming Alabama defense earlier this year. Florida will try to pressure Mallett the way the Tide did and hopefully avoid a letdown in their quest to repeat as National Champions.

These are the type games that make the SEC so tough, and the Gators will have to bring their top effort for the second week in a row.
