ACC Daily Fever: Clemson-Wake Forest Winner Could Become Atlantic Favorite

Posted: Oct 15, 2009

The Atlantic Division is wide open at the midway point, and an important game in deciding that half of the conference will take place Saturday when Wake Forest travels to Clemson.

Many predicted Florida State to win the Division, with NC State or Clemson finishing second. The Noles and Wolfpack have started ACC play 0-5, so whoever wins the Tigers/Deacons battle will have the upper hand at making the Title Game in Tampa.

After losing four defenders in the first four rounds of the NFL Draft, Jim Grobe’s club has jumped on the arm of senior quarterback Riley Skinner for a solid start. He has thrown 15 touchdowns in six games and could move Wake to 3-1 in league play with a win in Death Valley.

Conversely, Dabo Swinney’s bunch has had two weeks with the Maryland loss hanging over their head. A home win on Saturday could a long way in the Tigers regaining their confidence for the league’s stretch run.
