SEC Daily Fever: Will LSU's Running Game Beat Florida?

Posted: Oct 09, 2009

Prime time national television audience, Baton Rouge, #1 vs. #4; this one should be fun.

That’s the scenario as Florida travels to LSU amid questions of whether Tim Tebow will play in the game. While much of the attention will go to the quarterback drama, the reality is that the Gators have enough weapons to score points with Tebow or capable backup John Brantley running UF’s attack.

The key to this contest will be LSU’s ability to move the ball on the lightning-quick Florida defense. The best plan may be a physical running game, something the Tigers seem to rediscover in last week’s win at Georgia.

Tennessee showed they could run on the Gators, and LSU will need to do the same this week to control the clock. Running back Charles Scott scored his first two touchdowns of the season against Georgia, after totaling 18 in 2008.

Making Scott the #1 option on offense again could propel the Tigers to a big win Saturday night and perhaps even more this season.
