ACC Daily Fever: FSU Prepares for Georgia Tech Amid Bowden Debate

Posted: Oct 09, 2009

It’s been quite a week in Tallahassee.

With everyone voicing an opinion on the future of Bobby Bowden, there have been more than enough distractions for a Florida State team that has been very inconsistent this season.

No time is good for off the field issues, but this week could be damaging for the Noles as they get ready to play one of the hardest teams to prepare for in Georgia Tech. The FSU defense is already battling injuries, and forming a game plan to combat the Yellow Jackets’ running game will be paramount to salvaging a frustrating season.

Florida State struggled a year ago in stopping Tech’s option scheme (288 yards rushing given up in the loss), so this week’s distractions will not help Mickey Andrews prepare his ailing defensive unit. They gave up 179 yards and 2 scores to BC’s Montel Harris in last week’s loss, and it will not get any easier when the Jackets arrive.

Florida State’s ’09 season may hinge on finding a way to win this home game and trying to avoid their first ever 0-3 league start.

It's been an ugly week for the Bowden family.  If Georgia Tech blows out FSU (a real possibility), next week could be even uglier if that's possible.
