ACC Daily Fever: Can Hokies Still Emerge As BCS Contender?
Posted: Sep 29, 2009With Virginia Tech’s big win over Miami, the Hokies and their fans are still thinking about a shot at the national title.
With a neutral field loss against #3 Alabama as their only blemish, the schedule looks pretty favorable with Duke and Boston College as the next two opponents. However, the Tech coaches believe that the team must avoid the same media “hype” that seemed to affect Miami before Saturday’s blowout in Blacksburg.
Bud Foster’s concerns are understandable, but it was his defensive unit that dominated Jacory Harris and the Canes and now has the Hokies back up to #6 in the polls.
If Virginia Tech can get by Georgia Tech and North Carolina in late October, the possibility of them running the table looks very real.
The way Bama is playing now, it might even be a rematch for the title.
