ACC Daily Fever: UNC Program Improves Under the Radar

While Miami has been the best story of the early ACC year, the only other undefeated team in the league (and ranked all season) is Butch Davis’ North Carolina squad.

They had a ton of offensive weapons to replace this year, so UNC’s stingy defense has led the way early. That defense will have a huge challenge this week as they try to stop the Georgia Tech running attack.

Last year, the Tar Heels held the Jackets to seven points despite giving up 326 rush yards. UNC was able to force three Tech turnovers in that game and will have to do an even better job this season if they want to win in Atlanta.

With another win over the Yellow Jackets, North Carolina could get to 6-0 before a brutal four-week stretch that includes Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Miami.

There's little doubt that UNC has hired a coach that several SEC teams would have wanted on their sidelines. This year and next year will tell the tail if the Tar Heels can match their basketball excellence on the gridiron.
