SEC Daily Fever: Hogs-Dawgs Could Be The SEC Game of The Weekend

Posted: Sep 16, 2009

SEC Daily Fever is the top SEC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

One of the more interesting matchups of the weekend has to be Georgia traveling to Arkansas.

(Give Mark Richt credit - his tough schedule has kept his team on the front page each and every week.  This week should be no different.)

The Bulldogs just barely avoided an 0-2 start by holding on for a thrilling victory over South Carolina. Meanwhile, the Razorbacks have been waiting for two weeks for their first real test of 2009 after pummeling Missouri State in the opener.

We are all ready to see Ryan Mallett runs Bobby Petrino’s offense in an SEC contest, but how the Hogs play defensively may determine the outcome.

Arkansas gave up 21 points or more in every game last season, and that must improve if they want to compete in the West Division. Georgia showed some firepower against South Carolina after struggling offensively in the opener at Oklahoma State.

Arkansas has a chance to really kick off a great season if they can contain the Dawgs’ attack.  Bobby Petrino's Louisville teams were never known for their defense, and they still won big.  However, the SEC is a different kettle of fish.

As Les Miles and LSU learned last year, you have to stop the other team's offense.
