SEC Daily Fever: Solid Debuts For New Coaches Makes Conference Even Deeper

Posted: Sep 08, 2009

SEC Daily Fever is the top SEC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

With the exception of the Georgia loss, it was a pretty solid start for the SEC. The biggest story had to be the debut of the three new coaches. Lane Kiffin’s Tennessee team looked strong, Mississippi State came on late for a big win; and Gene Chizik has Auburn fans fired up.

While the opponents may not have been the strongest in the land, the high-scoring victories were a welcome sight for the fan bases of these three offensively-challenged teams in ’08.

The quartet of Florida, Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss look like the big boys of the league this season. If you then add Georgia and Arkansas to improved teams at Tennessee and Auburn, the potential for the country’s toughest conference grows even more.

One thing is for sure: it’s as hard to win in the SEC as it has ever been because of the quality of the coaching and fan support.
