ACC Daily Fever: Hokies Must Improve on Offense

Posted: Sep 01, 2009

ACC Daily Fever is the top ACC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

After Virginia Tech finished 103rd nationally in total offense last year, offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring felt the heat from the Hokies fan base. He says the offense will be better this season, and Tech fans sure hope so.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor should be more comfortable knowing it’s his team this year, and he will need to do better than his two touchdown passes in 2008. Taylor will benefit from an improved offensive line as the team searches for a replacement runner for the injured Darren Evans.

If the Tech can get by Alabama in the opener, the schedule sets up pretty well for them to make a Top 5 run. It’s no easy task hosting Nebraska or traveling to Georgia Tech, but the Crimson Tide should definitely be the highest-ranked opponent on the slate.

Frank Beamer’s squad should be solid like most years, but it will take a better offensive effort for 2009 to truly be special.
