ACC Daily Fever: Will Gamecock Trash Talk Motivate an Improving NC State?

Posted: Aug 27, 2009

ACC Daily Fever is the top ACC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

The 2009 campaign will be huge for N.C. State’s Tom O’Brien, who has gone 11-14 in his first two years in Raleigh after eight straight winning seasons at Boston College. It sounds like his disciplined approach is starting to get through to the win-starved Wolfpack.

The fan base needs to start feeling like O’Brien can turn things around in Year 3, especially with All-ACC quarterback Russell Wilson at the helm.

Another item that will catch the Pack’s attention is the comment of South Carolina tight end Weslye Saunders, who is already talking about how he will celebrate if he scores in the season opener.  That kind of talk will definitely provide some motivation for a club that could make a big statement on national television with a win against an SEC foe.

Although both NC State and South Carolina fall under the national radar screen, the success of these two programs in 2009 will say a lot about the overall strength of their respective conferences.
