SEC Daily Fever: Latest On Julio Jones and Alabama

Posted: Aug 26, 2009

SEC Daily Fever is the top SEC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

It's the story that just won't go away in Alabama. While Nick Saban tries to get his team ready for the Virginia Tech opener, the media and fans are talking about the fishing trip that offensive stars Mark Ingram and Julio Jones were taken on by a a 56-year-old Athens resident, Curtis Anderson.

On the surface, it seems like no big deal. But for a program that has had four "probations" in 14 years, any type of incident is cause for concern. The University says Anderson is not associated with the school, so no penalty should be given out.

As much as Nick Saban has brought success and acclaim to Alabama football in his short time as coach, past Alabama indiscretions still haunt the program.  Logic says that this issue will fade into the background, but that doesn't stop Tide fans from taking pause each time the NCAA is mentioned.
