SEC Daily Fever: How will Kiffin's offense fare in Year 1?

Posted: Aug 25, 2009

SEC Daily Fever is the top SEC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

As expected, Tennessee has named senior quarterback Jonathan Crompton the starter yesterday. He will need to improve vastly, along with the rest of the offense, if the Vols are going to get the Kiffin era off to a good start.

The defense, led by All-American Eric Berry, should still be solid in Knoxville as they look for some help from an offense that was just plain anemic in 2008.

And with the news that leading receiver Gerald Jones will be out for a month, it puts more pressure on Crompton and the running game to perform. With four seniors on the offensive line, look for the Vols to put a heavy emphasis on the running game in Lane Kiffin's first season.
