ACC Daily Fever: New Starter for Clemson

Posted: Aug 18, 2009

ACC Daily Fever is the top ACC story of the day. Disagree? Let us know.

Clemson will have a new signal caller for their opener as Dabo Swinney has named redshirt freshman Kyle Parker the Tigers’ starting quarterback. Parker has beaten out the favorite coming into camp, Willy Korn, who is also expected to see snaps in each game this season.

How Swinney handles the always-delicate multiple quarterback situation will be paramount to Clemson’s success in his first full year as head coach.  Decisions like these are the ones that get second-guessed if the wins don't come early and often.

There is little doubt that Swinney and his engaging personality has captured the hearts of Clemson fans, but they will still look at wins and losses by season's end.

Starting QB play obviously remains one of college football's most important difference makers in the year end standings.
