Brooks & Dunn Going Out On Top

All good things, they say,  must eventually come to an end, even if it’s a mega-star country music act like Brooks & Dunn. Louisiana man Kix Brooks and Texan Ronnie Dunn have announced that they are parting ways as a duo following a farewell tour next year dubbed “The Last Rodeo Tour.” Prior to that the guys will be releasing a greatest hits package just in time for the Holidays.

Brooks & Dunn got together a little over 20 years ago, and charted with “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” in 1991. They went on to become the biggest selling duo in country music history and repeatedly beat out the competition for Best Duo at the CMA Awards.

Kix and Ronnie will continue solo careers, and have told the press that the breakup is a mutual agreement, that it was “just time,” and asked fans to please “don’t believe any rumors you may hear,”

I always liked Brooks & Dunn’s blend of country with definite elements of Southern Rock tossed in.

I’ve posted a couple of videos from the CMT Crossroads that paired B&D with ZZ Top. They went on to enjoy a massive co-headlining tour. Brooks and Dunn may be coming to an end, but there’s no doubt in my mind that these guys will still be churning out some great music for years to come.

I think it is a wise move to go out on top especially in todays country scene which is the same as the pop scene in the sense that the new audience looks for the "flavor of the week". Many groups have gone out on top and find that when they regroup they are bigger than when they left. Sometimes you need to take away a good thing to make people miss it.

I must agree with copperhead. Taylor Swift? Rascal Flats? Its all just thinly disguised pop music, and not eveb GOOD pop music! Where's ol Waylon when we need him?

Wow. Its like the sun setting. They were a driving force in country music. They will be missed. Country Music has gone to hell. Jamey Johnson is the only one out there play true counry
