Here’s a new feature for GRITZ, Buffalo’s Top Ten list. Every week I will run down the ten albums, books, movies, TV shows -whatever- that have me excited. My hope is that by sharing these obsessions with you, maybe you'll find something new that you like that maybe you didn’t know about before.
1. The Allman Brothers Band at The Beacon 2009 (Online and CD)
One of the highlights of my year was reviewing all of these great shows, featuring the Brothers and guests like Levon Helm, Kid Rock, Bonnie and Bekka Bramlett, Eric Clapton, Robert Randolph, Billy Gibbons, Chuck Leavell, Jimmy Hall, Susan Tedeschi, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and many others. Hittin The Note is about to release all of these great shows on CD, and if you want you can still dig ‘em on your MAC at moogis.com
2. Shark Week (TV) The Discovery Channel is premiering all new shark specials every night at 9 PM. Spooky but cool!
3. LOST on DVD (DVD) I just started watching the series again from the beginning on DVD. You catch a lot of stuff you missed the first time through. Did that black smoke “possess” Locke in episode three?
4. Funny People (Movie) I love Seth Rogan’s latest. Adam Sandler is funny, and the blend of comedy mixes well with the dramatic storyline. And the plethora of cameos is awesome.
5. Comic Con (Event) Maybe next year? My buddy The Weasel went this year. Lucky devil. I’d love to have met the kids from LOST and Stan “The Man” Lee, among others.
6. Stephen King (Author) My favorite writer. My favorites are Misery and On Writing, but I love most of his books. I even read his column in Entertainment Weekly.
7. The Corduroy Road (Band) Wow. What a great new group with a great new album. Based in Athens (Georgia, not Greece), they rock the punkgrass.
8. Entertainment Weekly Vampire Issue (Magazine) I have a subscription and once in a while they blow it out with something really cool. This issue did not suck.
9. The Rossington Collins Band (Former Band) I have been playing heir two albums a lot lately. I was a huge fan of Dale Krantz on lead vocals. Gary Rossingon was an even bigger fan, obviously.
10. The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (TV) I admit I am not the TV watcher I used to be, but I am a fan of Conan. He is just genuinely funny.
Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

I am a huge Dale Krantz fan. I still think she should do a solo record.
