We had our very own "Winds-day" here at the GRITZ office yesterday. At times it felt like we were in the middle of a "tor-nady," as an old hillbilly friend of mine used to say. The electricity went out at noon, and I came to a sudden realization that I was *gasp* without internet access. Of course, the outage called for me to "cowboy up," and try to get things together as much as possible for the coming darkness and cooooooold weather. Oh, bother!
While all of this was going on, i was spinning plates with a misunderstanding at my bank, along with half a dozen other pressing matters. Not to mention trying to post my blog about the ultra-cool Mayor of St. Petersburg who was going to sit in with Marshall Tucker Band last night in Largo, Florida. Well, I got it posted when power was restored at 4 pm this afternoon.
Now, I am very blessed. Our power is back on, and I am sitting in a warm office, listening to a Winters Brothers Band CD and sipping on a piping hot cup of Boxmasters coffee. ("Good to the last swig.") Sadly, over 12,000 fellow Greenvillians remain in the dark as the sun sets outside my window. We can only pray they get their power restored very soon.
Due to the lack of power and all the other excitement, I really didn't sleep at all last night, so I will sign off for now with the promise that we'll be back with some more Southern Rock talk tomorrow. Check out the News 4 video of our local wind damage.
