The Johnny Cash Christmas Special 1977
(Shout!Factory)
From the Country Music Hall of Fame Archive Series comes a pair of classic Christmas TV specials hosted by Johnny Cash and family.
The’76 show was taped on the family farm in Bon Aqua, Tennessee and at their now legendary home in Hendersonville, and featured guest Tony Orlando performing his chart-topping “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree.”
Also featured are Roy Clark, June Carter Cash, Merle Travis, Tommy Cash, Barbara Mandrell, The Carter family and Rev. Billy Graham. The spirit of ‘76 is paid tribute in a Stephen Foster Medley.
Cash was back in ‘77 with another great holiday extravaganza, including a tribute to Elvis Presley, who died two months prior to the shows taping. The tribute features Cash, along with Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins.
Also entering in ‘77 were June Carter, Roy Clark, and the Statler Brothers. These are great holiday shows with timeless appeal.
