The Black Crowes
Freak’N’Roll ...Into The Fog
The Black Crowes All Join Hands
The Fillmore, San Francisco
(Eagle Vision)
Damn, it’s good to see Rich and Chris Robinson together again. This show, recorded during their critically acclaimed reunion tour in 2005 at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium is a non-stop, soulful, kick out the jams joy ride from beginning to end. With a full horn section, great backup singers, and a whole lot of passion. The results are one ultra magic night.
The set list is jam-packed with Crowes favorites as well as a surprise of two. From “Halfway To Everywhere” to “Jealous Again,” to “She Talks to Angels” (smooth acoustic from Rich) to the always funky “Hard To Handle,” plus an awesome “Mellow Down Easy” and a seriously cool closing number, “The Night They Drove Ol’ Dixie Down.” This is one more jammin show, guys.
I really (emphasize “really”) love the funky bonus film of the band in and around Frisco and the Fillmore with Chris and his wife Kate Hudson, the rest of band, crew, and friends. There’s a great scene of the band doing sound check with a Grateful Dead number. The film has been distressed to give it a vintage flavor and you’d swear it was from 1969. Retro, but in the coolest sense of the word. Freaking awesome.
