I have to admit it, I have been enjoying the food at Side Street Pizza for well over ten years now, and it is still as good as it was the very first time I stepped through the doors of the popular eatery in their old location off of Trade Street. I'll never forget the first visit - I went with co-workers from the newspaper office in nearby Columbus and enjoyed a steak sub - a sandwich they still offer ($5.25) - a tasty combination of shaved, grilled steak, topped with green peppers, melted provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapeno peppers, black olives- all sandwiched within a fresh baked sub roll.
Another specialty is the famous 'white pizza.' A mouth-watering substitute for the traditional sauce (which they also have plenty of by the way).
Side Street offers a wide variety of pizzas and toppings - and you can create your own pizza, which we have done on several occasions- a favorite of mine is white sauce with green pepper, onion, and mushrooms (medium- 9.45)- sometimes adding sausage (90-cents extra) - yummy.
Side Street offers excellent pastas - linguine, fettuccine, eggplant and more- as well as crisp salads, beverages, soup and ten tasty temptations for appetizer, including a tempting spinach artichoke dip with crunchy homemade chips.
When in Tryon, don't miss turning onto the Side Street.
