Saturday Night Special, a band of New York rockers with a real knack for duplicating the sound of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd, has all four aces up their sleeve, and it is the ultimate winning hand. Four alumni of Ronnie Van Zant’s Skynyrd have joined the band, and as you can see in this documentary DVD, the sound is classic Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Drummer Artimus Pyle, guitarist Ed King and “Honkettes” JoJo Billingsley and Leslie Hawkins provide the core of a band that at times sounds more like the old Skynyrd band than Gary Rossington’s current Skynyrd.
With “Official Bootleg,” we get a well rounded introduction of the band and the four “Special” members. Lots of concert footage prepares us for their upcoming “Live in Concert" DVD, coming in February.
