Around these parts, we all agree on one thing. Warren Haynes is “da man.” This Asheville, N.C. born musician does it all, and does it well. From his band Gov’t Mule to his position as lead guitarist with The Allman Brothers Band, and with Phil Lesh and Friends and filling the shoes of the late Jerry Garcia in the Dead - Whew! - it wears me out just writing about all that work! So what does Warren do in his spare time? He picks up an acoustic guitar and plays solo. And what’s amazing is, his solo work is just as good as his band work. Nowhere is this more evident than on this set, recorded at the 2003 Bonnaroo Festival in Central Tennessee.

Haynes pulls out all the stops with something for everyone - from his Brothers fans (“Soulshine”) to Lesh fans and Deadheads (“Patchwork Quilt,” “Stella Blue”) and Mule folks (“Fallen Down,” “Beautifully Broken”). He performs a pair of his very best compositions back to back (“In My Life,” “I’ll Be The One”) and does an outstanding job on cover tunes such as “One” by U2, “I’ve Got Dreams To Remember” by Otis Redding and a definitive version of the Eagles “Wasted Time.”

Live At Bonnaroo is a must have album. A great guitarist and vocalist, stripped down to the bare essentials. A man who never ever fails to deliver.
