Eddie Stone and Friends
(Phoenix Music)
Just like the good ol’ days of Capricorn Records, Eddie Stone and the folks at Phoenix Music have assembled a cool new Southern Rock album packed with great tunes and some heavy weight guest artists. Eddie, who double dips as keyboard man for both Doc Holiday and Grinderswitch, brings B.B. Borden and Chris Hicks from Marshall Tucker; Rob Walker and Mike Causey from Stillwater; Ronnie Hammond from Atlanta Rhythm Section; Eddie Long (Bama Band); Bruce Brookshire, Daniel Ford, Cadillac Lastinger, and John Vaughn from Doc Holliday, along with Tim Brooks, Phil Palms, Skip Slaughter and Stephen Martin.
The album is packed with Eddie’s originals, tunes co-written by Brookshire and an apt cover of Cowboy’s “Please Be With Me.” The guys also rock through John Fogerty’s “Almost Saturday Night.” And there’s an awesome tribute to The Allman Brothers, “The Fire Still Burns.” Another choice cut is “Take It Like A Man.” An awesome album from a great Southern talent.
