Blue to the Bone

by: Bob Hart

(Blues Avenue)
Louisiana guitar man Bob Hart has been ripping it up for years, going all the way back to the 1970’s when he played with the Southern rock band Buckeye, and he is as good as ever on this new release.  Fiery electric blues like “Take The Money and Run” combine with rockers like “Asstified” to create one more smoking record.

The title track, “Blue to the Bone” is gritty and heartfelt, and “Listen to Your Heart” is another good one, with Hart testifying that he doesn’t need a gypsy to tell him how he feels, he chooses to listen to his heart. You tell 'em, brother.

The bonus track contained here was recorded 30 years ago. It is Buckeye doing “Another Lonley Night,” with the late Ray Brand on guitar. (We miss you Ray!) Bob’s brother Bill Hart wails on a sax solo as well. (Bill is featured in the Volunteer Jam movie). A true collector’s item, and one special moment in Alabama rock and roll history.

Hart is a master bluesman, and “Blue to the Bone” is a classic. If you love blues with a whole lot of soul, check him out.
