We Celebrate The Allman Brothers Band During The Month of March
Posted: Mar 02, 2009I am extremely happy to announce that March is Allman Brothers Band month here at GRITZ. In celebration of The Brothers' 40th Anniversary and their upcoming Beacon run, SWAMPLAND and GRITZ will be bringing you new ABB interviews, features and more, as well as revisiting classic interviews from the vaults.
We will be adding a Six Degrees of Swampland: The Allman Brothers Band page in the next few days as well, which will act as an index of all Brothers related stories in GRITZ and throughout the entire SWAMPLAND site.
Just to kick things off in style, let's revisit brother Gregg Allman and an interview I conducted with him ten yers ago for GRITZ, on the occasion of the band's 30th anniversary. One of the questions I asked Gregg was "what was the greatest thing you learned from your brother Duane?"
"I think it would be to stick to your guns, and not to let anybody weasel you into their pattern, you know? Like trying to get you to play some other kind of music, or sign something by hook or crook, you know? I learned a lot of things from my brother, and I think I can safely say, vice-versa. But that’s one that really sticks out. Stick to how you really feel about things. Keep your own mind about things."
