Posted: Sep 08, 2007

The Allman Brothers Band return to their old stomping ground in Piedmont Park in Atlanta tonight (September 8), joining The Dave Matthews Band for The Green Concert for Piedmont Park. The event will help raise more than $1 million for the park’s expansion, which is set to begin later this fall.

The Brothers last played in the Park more than 30 years ago with the Grateful Dead and Delaney & Bonnie. The sold out concert will draw more than 50,000 fans. No parking will be allowed on-site or in surrounding neighborhoods, concert organizers are urging everyone to take MARTA, walk or bike to get to the park.

The Green Concert for Piedmont Park is the latest in a series of special concerts Dave Matthews Band has presented to benefit some of the United States’ most treasured parks, including New York City’s Central Park and San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

On Sunday (September 9), both The Allman Brothers and Dave Matthews Band will appear in New York for Farm Aid, a 10-hour concert, which takes place on Randalls Island, a show which also features Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Counting Crows, Merle Haggard and many more.
