Hanging with Jimmy Hall and Tommy Talton On The Movie Set

Posted: Jul 06, 2008

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend. We sure did.

Saturday we made our way down to Georgia to watch a day of filming on a new Southern movie called Dixie Times. The really cool thing about it was that our friends Jimmy Hall and Tommy Talton were appearing in the film as the band in a scene at a hotel bar.

Great fun was had by all. Check out my article and photos here.

Let us know what you think!

Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

I just got the new Tommy Talton CD and it is brilliant. His music is the best out there, bar none.

Thank you, Buffalo, for this excellent article. It was so great meeting you and your wife on July 4th on the movie set of "Dixie Times" at Mike and Tara Proctor's private/secret bar "The High Lonesome Saloon". It was great meeting Jimmy Hall, Tommy Talton and all of the other band members also. They were very nice people and we really enjoyed hearing them play. Their songs were fantastic. And one can never say enough about Jimmy Hall's harmonica playing and singing. He's always been a very talented musician in every way. Thanks so much for mentioning the band "Free Will Offering" in your article as well. They are working hard on some new original songs and hope to have a cd completed soon. They are a true Southern band with the band members being from Cedartown/Cave Spring/Rome, Georgia area. They play mainly Southern gospel/rock songs (many of them originals) but also play some country songs. They will be adding even more songs to their myspace page soon as well as pictures, some of which were taken on the movie set also. Their myspace page is www.myspace.com/freewilloffering. We all enjoyed sitting and talking with ya'll during the dinner break and I'm so glad you enjoyed hearing the Southern stories that my aunt and mom had to tell. They always have great stories to share and are just a joy to be around. When we get together, we always laugh and have a great time with them/other family members. Thanks again! It was so much fun being there at "The High Lonesome" with ya'll and hearing all of the great music, laughing, talking with old friends and meeting new folks. It was a great way to spend the 4th of July!! Hope to see you again in Rome soon!
