Guest Writer for this Week Reminds us To Count Our Blessings

Posted: Dec 18, 2009

As Christmas grows closer and 2009, which has been a difficult year for everyone, draws to a close, some of us may find it a bit more difficult than usual  to count our blessings. The South has been extremely hard hit by the recession. Friends have lost their jobs, their health, their lives. I attended two celebrations of life last month for friends who died well under the age of 50. Daily I am reminded of the fragiility of life and health--not to mention economic prosperity.

Today I am publishing  a Christmas letter that I received from a friend last year, a letter that serves as a perpetual reminder to me that we can find joy in the smallest blessings and that one of our greatest blessings is a sense of humor. I am accustomed to receiving letters from friends telling about their world travels, their new homes, their children's accomplishments, and the antics of their animals. I am delighted to receive these letters. In fact, I am one of those few people who really love getting a generic Christmas letter. News is news, regardless of the format. But the letter I am featuring on RiverVue today is a very special letter. It is a letter from the heart, and it warms my heart every time I read it. I hope you feel the same. Just click on "A Real Christmas Letter."

Wishing each and every one of you a Christmas filled with love and a healthy, prosperous, and peaceful New Year.
