Ex-Trick Pony Singer Heidi is Back to Rock Your World

Posted: Apr 12, 2008

I always loved Trick Pony, and had the chance to see them up close and personal several times during the annual Angelus concerts in Tampa, Florida. One night during the 2006 show, somewhere after midnight, I found myself in a rockin' jam led by Chris Hicks of Marshall Tucker and a few other MTB members, Mark Emerick (Commander Cody), some of the guys from Little Texas and Heidi Newfield, who was at the time still the lead vocalist for Trick Pony. On this special night she was blowing some extra hot harp and we all just had a large time. The next day at the outdoor country concert, she and the band rocked huge.

I just got the buzz that Heidi's solo debut single "Johnny And June, " is currently at number 46 on the R&R chart and number 50 on the Mediabase chart , This is the first single from Newfield's yet-to-be-titled debut solo album on Curb/Asylum Records, scheduled for a summer release. The album was produced by Tony Brown.

Heidi wrote 6 of the disc's 10 songs, including "Johnny And June," which she co-wrote with Stephony Smith and Deanna Bryant.

Heidi kicks off her first-ever solo tour with an appearance at Country Thunder in Florence, Ariz. April 20, Tampa, Fla. on April 26 and Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on April 27 as part of the 10th annual "Jammin' to Beat The Blues" concert benefiting the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee. We'll keep an eye out. This girl rocks her country.

Keep it Real. Keep it Southern.

Remember that show well, we were sitting about 4 feet from Heidi when she was playing the harp. It was some jam session. Hope she does well with her CD.

Heidi was the talent in that band anyway. I'll buy her cd.

I am glad to see her back in action. I always thought she rocks. They start of rocking then she started wearing evening gowns. Copperhead
