Famed Canadian-New Orleans producer/musician Daniel Lanois is working on a new album in Toronto. Lanois has recorded and worked with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, The Neville Brothers, U2 and Chris Whitley to name a few. Lanois also ranks as an accomplished solo artist. Lanois also scored Billy Bob Thornton’s movie Sling Blade.
On September 3, Lanois wrote on his website: “I’m currently working on my new project called Black Dub. The members of the orchestra are Brian Blade, Daryl “da bird” Johnson, Trixie Whitley (Chris’ daughter) and Myself. This dynamic new project features my dub technique that I’ve been working on for years, hence the name Black Dub. We hope to have this out in the New Year…”
