Dust to Digital’s Atlanta Grammy Celebration & Release Party

A few short notes as a prelude to an upcoming larger story….
Last night at Atlanta’s Highland Inn, Dust To Digital hosted a Grammy-winning celebration and new catalogue release party. In February Lance Ledbetter’s Atlanta company Dust To Digital won a Grammy for Best Historic album for Art of Field Recording Volume 1. Next week, Lance and I will conduct an interview that will provide a definitive insight into his influential company. Fun is afoot…Swampland and Dust To Digital will be conducting a contest in the next several weeks…so keep an ear to the ground…you may be able to win Dust to Digital’s entire collection.
A short run down of the evening last night included performers such as Tony Bryant-a fourth generation Georgia bluesman, George Gibson a Kentucky banjo master who ranks as one of the most proficient players of the instrument in the world; Earl Murphy, a 92-year old fiddle expert and Around the Globe Sea Shanty Singers from Athens, Georgia.
It was a memorable night of traditional American blues, bluegrass and country music. Dust To Digital represents everything Mystery And Manners is about. All the artists gave stellar performances. George Murphy proved my favorite with his fascinating storytelling and renditions of old Civil War songs, original ballads and compositions. He even posed with Robin for a picture.
The evening was also a celebration of Dust To Digital’s new boxset, Art of Field Recording Volume 2, which I will review soon. Do your self a favor and plunge into the timeless music reservoir of Dust To Digital. Godspeed to you all…
