Ry Cooder's Los Angeles Stories
Ry Cooder made music with The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Jim Dickinson, Little Feat, Taj Mahal, Randy Newman, Captain Beefheart, The Chieftans, John Lee Hooker, Mavis Staples, Flaco Jimenez, Freddy Fender, John Hiatt and many other musicians in his career.
Cooder has a new album out--Pull Up Some Dust And Sit Down--as well as a new book titled Los Angeles Stories. This L.A.Times article includes an nice excerpt from the book.

Among others, Cooder also recorded the spooky soundtrack to the film Paris, Texas. Ever hear the slide on Little Feat's "Willin"? Or the six string work on "Sister Morphine" by The Rolling Stones? Or "Statesboro Blues" by the Rising Sons? That's Ry Cooder. Investigate...
