Ghost Rider and Other Comic Book Movies
Posted: Feb 17, 2007 There has been a real surge of comic book movies over the past few year, and I must admit, I love it. I have been a comics fan my whole life, and once the Hollywood studios found out just how big the comics niche could be, the machine was set into motion.Today I witnessed the premier of the latest in the Marvell Comics movie series, Ghost Rider, staring
Nicholas Cage and Eva Mendes. It's the story of a man who signs a deal with the devil so that his daddy will be cured of cancer. From then on, he carries the curse of the Ghost Rider, changing into a haint with a flaming skull every night and fighting evil. One thing I found very cool was the casting of motorcycle movie vets Peter Fonda and Sam Elliott as the devil and the caretaker, respectively.
The movie was typical comic fare, lots of great special effects, unbelievable explosions and one hot babe (Eva). I’d put this one on par with The Punisher, another Marvel film from a few years back. In other words, good but not great. It did have a killer soundtrack that featured ZZ Top’s “Tush” and Bonnie Bramlett’s “Superstar,” albeit the homogenized Karen Carpenter version.
Of course there have been some absolutely great comic films lately. Blade Trinity for instance, is one of the best comic book movies ever. Wesley Snipes rocked in the first two films, but he and his co-stars sent it over the top with Trinity. Lots of vampires, lots of kung fu, and Parker Posey as the most evil fanged-bitch ever to grace a movie screen.
Batman Begins was also grade-A. It beat the heck out of all four of the previous big screen Batman flicks. (Although I must admit a fondness for Michael Keaton in the very first Batman.) Christian Bale did a great job in Begins, and the more mature, somewhat darker storyline was very appealing to us older fans. And then there is the cute-hot Katie Holmes as Batman’s love interest. Could he be the real father of baby Suri?
Looks like a good time for another “Buffalo List.” Here are my recommendations if you are interested in diving into comic books on celluloid. My Top 15 comic book films thus far.

Some similar dvd which are about police are all have good audience rating, another master piece is Bones. Now the N0.1 DVD series in world is Ncis Cast and Big Bang Theory Gull Episodes. There are too many good dvds and USA is the best country which produce so many good dvd box set what we have all admitted that. In Asia, Hongkong is famous for it’s dvd box set too called TVB Series. They have reproduced many dvd from usa, one of them is Doctor Who.

I'd have to put Sin City in #1 and Batman Begins in #2. Blade is up there, but the true comic book dork in me has a problem watching Nick Cage as Ghost Rider, I'm still going to go see it, but I don't have high hopes.
